Installation Guide ------------------ (Note) To determine if you should update the power management driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for this package. (Windows XP) CLEAN INSTALL: 1. Start Windows XP, and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Open Control Panel; then select Add Hardware from Printer and Other hardware. If you cannot find Printer and Other hardware, select Add Hardware directly. 3. Click Next. 4. Select Yes,I have already connected the hardware; then click Next. 5. Select Unknown from 'Installed hardware:' list; then click Next. (*1) 6. Click on Finish. 7. Select 'Install from a list or specific location(Advanced)'; then click Next. 8. Select 'Search for the best driver in these locations'; then select 'I include this location in the search:'. 9. Specify the directory name where you extracted this package; then click OK. 10. Click Finish. 11. Restart the system. UPDATE INSTALL: 1. If another 'Insert Disk' dialog is displayed, specify the directory name where you extracted this package; then click OK. 16. If 'Update Driver Warning' message is displayed, select Yes. 17. Click Next. 18. If 'Version Conflict' dialogs are displayed, select No. 19. Close the device property. 20. Restart the system. (Note) *1 When you see several 'unknown' devices, please try the top one first. If the installation does not find the hardware information and does not complete the process, cancel it and try the next one. Unattended Installation Guide: (Note) This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Add a directory to the $OEM$ subdirectory on the server For example: C:\WinDist\i386\$OEM$\$1\PnPDrvs\Power 4. Add the directory to the OEMPnPDriversPath statement in UNATTEND.TXT For example: [Unattended] OEMPreInstall=Yes OEMPnPDriversPath="PnPDrvs\Power;" 5. Copy all the files in the directory where you extracted this package package to the new directory. For example: copy C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IBMPM\*.* C:\WinDist\i386\$OEM$\$1\PnPDrvs\Power HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: Method 1) If you have the original extracted files, find the DISKKU.VER file. You can see the version information using a text editor. Method 2) Check the date stamp of the IBMPMDRV.SYS file under the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory. For example, 1:00 means Version 1.00.
