There are more variables, so I don't know if this will help, but I'll play
anyway. :) The first box on my list is a dedicated server, and I'm
thinking pretty seriously about ditching it and eating a rather large
setup fee.
|2.4.19 |14 (also tried 13, SMP/no SMP) | no | no error messages, but
entire system hangs, cronjobs don't run, network connection attempts time
out, etc, although it's pingable. P4, software raid1 ide. Up to 10 days
uptime, but often only 1-2 days between crashes. Thank $deity for the
remote reboot switch.
|2.4.18 |12 | yes | 95 days uptime before a reboot for an
upgrade, duron, ide (precompiled kernel)
|2.4.19 |14 | yes | I think.. new box, about 20 days light load,
duron, ide
|2.4.19 |14 | yes | duron, software raid 1 ide
The last time this came up (I brought it up) it sounded like the behavior
I'm seeing on the one server is not uncommon, but it wasn't clear what the
common thread was.
HTH.
