hm.. i try:
[root_at_linux root]# ssh 192.168.2.3
root_at_192.168.2.3's password:
( 192.168.2.3 - my test virtual server)
[root@ root]# dd if=/dev/hda1 of=/tmp/hda1 count=10
dd: opening `/dev/hda1': No such file or directory
[root@ root]# ls -l /dev/h*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 10 16:30 /dev/hdv1
(it's fake for disk quota tools.)
[root@ root]# mknod /dev/hda1 b 3 0
mknod: `/dev/hda1': Operation not permitted

i see it's don't work.

If you have other results please send version of patch and you log.
