I think you can freeze this as soon as 2.6 becomes stable enough to rely
on. Big security holes/crashes could be patched, but not new features.

I prefer secure over speed ;-), but I do not see any use in supporting 2
branches for new developments, as the reason why I would stay with an
older 'trusted' version is that 'it works and don't want to touch it'

Yes. I would prefer to not have to change anything if I want to change
to a newer version (assuming the 'new' features are by default off if
they could be potentially dangerous or different from the 2.4 branch)

At this point, 2.4 since I run it, in the future, possibly 2.6
