I just managed to try solving this problem:

This is because vps-fakepackages is not installed. mkinitrd will be
obsoleted (read: uninstalled) by vps-fakepackages automatically.
A fake nash binary will be placed in the usual location, so initscripts'
dependencies are still met.

> (plus kernel, if not installed fake-kernel)

Please try to install vps-fakepackages 1.0-5 instead of 1.0-4.

This one now explicitly provides module-init-tools besides modutils, so
FC4 initscripts will no longer claim about.
