just create a new skeleton guest with the -m skeleton
build method, which resembles the physical system
regarding networking and naming, the copy over the
entire contents of the physical machine, excluding
the /dev and /proc directory to the skeleton dir
(cp -a, dump/restore, tar, rsync, ...)

starting and stopping the guest should work after
that, but you might want to clean up scripts later
to avoid a bunch of failures when the new guest
tries to mess with the hardware ...
