Could the "//" in "//fsuser/grp" be throwing off its option parsing?

Or the "-n" option is really invalid for that /sbin/mount.smbfs version?
(It isn't mentioned on the smbmount man page.)

Try running /sbin/mount.smbfs by hand with those variations.
