it is not about rebuilding from scratch, it is about configuring from
scratch and possibly without linux-vserver patch. A bit less effort:
what happens if you use this very kernel and this very config but
without vserver-patch? Does lsusb work then?
If it doesn't: check the kernel configuration and retry, if it works,
add vserver and you should be fine.
I am currently running 3.14.21-vs2.3.6.13+lihas1 on my laptop and
lsusb works fine.
