Hi,

I use rdiff-backup to "big disk - off-location" server.

It uses ssh, less bandwith/transfer, more time/CPU
Uses diff files to make a history of your file
changes but the "current state" is an exact copy
of your directory stucture so should work well for
vserver.

In debian
rdiff 0.9.5-1 Binary diff tool for signature-based differe
rdiff-backup 0.6.0-1 Backup program to use deltas for history
